D&D Commodities, a business unit of Central Garden & Pet Company, is a leader in the bird food manufacturing industry. We are searching for a Machine Operator for our Stehen, MN, location. This role is integral to our production process, requiring a mechanically inclined, safety-conscious individual who can perform essential functions efficiently and effectively under tight schedules and deadlines.
- First shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Full-time position, with potential for some overtime and weekend shifts.
Location:Key Responsibilities:
- Operate automatic form/fill machines by placing specified packaging onto the machine and adjusting controls to ensure correct parameters.
- Ensure quality control by overseeing production, conducting regular inspections, sampling products periodically for documentation, and maintaining awareness of product specifications (weight, bags per pallet or box, type of pallet or box), effectively communicating these details to fellow line workers.
- Ensure operation of production machinery and mechanical equipment by performing necessary adjustments and minor repairs to machinery to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
- Set up the line using correct film, boxes, and labels for smooth production; change the film and guarantee codes are correctly placed on bags to adhere to FDA guidelines.
- Operate machines in a safe and responsible manner according to OSHA standards. Report any unsafe conditions or practices to your Supervisor or Manager immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the line or area by constant sweeping, dusting, and/or washing down equipment.
- Train new coworkers on the line or area as needed.
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential to this role.
Qualifications:- Must be able to lift, move, and stack up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work closely with other team members on the line or in the area, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, with frequent stooping, squatting, overhead lifting, and walking.
- Detail oriented with proficiency in counting and basic math skills.
- Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends.
Minimum Experience & Education:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic knowledge of production and plant processes. Previous experience in a manufacturing facility or similar relevant experience preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude required.
- Proficiency in computer operations preferred.
Working Conditions:- Work environment includes a non-climate-controlled warehouse production facility, with frequent proximity to moving mechanical parts, product irritants, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Occasionally, tasks may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and amidst moderate noise levels.
- Please be aware that we produce products containing grain, nuts, and peppers.
Position Information:- This position pays $18.00+ per hour depending on experience.
