Job summary

H&R Block invites students to join the Embark 2027 Summer Internship Program in Kansas City, MO. This 11-week paid internship targets students in Computer/Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied/Computational Mathematics.

Duties include building ML models, data preparation, and collaboration with AI/ML and engineering teams. Compensation is $25/hour with housing stipend for those >50 miles from KC, and PTO during Reboot Week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Seeking a degree in Information Computer/Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied/Computational Mathematics.
• Ability to work independently and in a diverse team.
• Motivated, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models, including generative AI models.
• Clean, prepare, and analyze data for ML projects.
• Tune and optimize models for production deployment.
• Collaborate with AI/ML and engineering teams for model integration and monitoring.
• Explore new ML technologies such as Generative AI and embeddings.
• Document findings and present outcomes and recommendations.
