Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have good manual dexterity and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions.
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Experience with precision measuring tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble heavy industrial equipment and subassemblies per drawings and work instructions.
• Install mechanical components including bearings, gears, shafts, motors, conveyors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, presses, hoists, and cranes safely.
• Measure dimensions and tolerances with calipers, micrometers, and gauges; verify alignments and clearances.
• Perform adjustments, alignments, and functional tests; troubleshoot and support engineering changes.
• Maintain production records and quality documentation; follow PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.

Position Title: Machine Assembly Technician

Wage: $22.00/hour

QPS Employment Group is hiring a Machine Assembly Technician for a company in Waterloo, IA. This is an associate to hire opportunity on 1st shift.

Machine Assembly Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assemble heavy industrial equipment and machine subassemblies using blueprints, assembly drawings, and work instructions
• Install mechanical components, including bearings, gears, shafts, motors, conveyors, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, presses, hoists, and overhead cranes to safely assemble and position equipment
• Measure and verify dimensions, tolerances, alignments, and clearances using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and feeler gauges
• Perform mechanical adjustments, alignments, and functional testing to ensure equipment operates according to specifications
• Diagnose and correct assembly issues, complete rework, and support engineering changes as required
• Maintain accurate production records and complete quality documentation
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE usage, lockout/tagout practices, and safe material handling techniques

Machine Assembly Technician Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods during assembly operations
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and machine components weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment used for heavier items
• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to climb ladders, platforms, or equipment structures when performing assembly and installation tasks
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, oils, lubricants, and varying temperatures while following safety procedures
• Ability to safely operate material handling equipment, such as overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting devices as required
