Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a healthcare teammate to assist with patient examinations and treatments in the Cardiology Specialists of Birmingham. You will support physicians and nurses, perform selected clinical duties, and help with basic clerical tasks in a busy clinic setting.

The role requires BLS certification within 30 days of hire and a high school diploma equivalency or equivalent experience. Travel to satellite locations may be necessary, and a Medical Assistant background is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire is required.
• Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience may be substituted for education.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examination and treatment under physician supervision.
• Assist with treatments ordered by physician or nurse, performing select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and document information; prepare treatment rooms.
• Perform basic clerical duties (phone, records, filing).
• Manage materials: ordering, stocking, and maintaining a clean environment.

Job Description

Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

• Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.


• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.


• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.


• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.


• Medical Assistant preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.


• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
