Job summary

UAB Medicine's Southview Medical Group in Birmingham seeks a Medical Assistant to support examination and treatment under physician supervision. You will interview patients, measure vital signs, record on charts, prepare treatment rooms, and perform basic clerical tasks.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent (1 year of related experience acceptable) and BLS certification within 30 days. Employment is at UAB St.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire; certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent or 1 year of applicable cumulative experience, as noted.

Job Description

• Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Qualifications

• Licensure / Certification / Registration:
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
