University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant/CSR to travel to UFJPI clinic locations and cover vacancies. You will greet patients, handle registration, schedules, cashiering, and insurance/payment posting while supporting the care team.
The role emphasizes high-level customer service, clinical support under physician supervision, and frequent travel to multiple UFJPI sites.
The MA/CSR will travel off campus to clinic locations to provide coverage for Medical Assistant/ CSR vacancies. Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the department/practice. A multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.
Perform timely processing of all incoming remits on a daily basis. Conduct daily research to correctly post payments, applied to Undistributed and/or PLB remit clearing accounts, during payment posting. Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives, including participation in process improvement, timesaving workflows, and efficiency of in-basket practice. Provides excellent customer service for patients/families/representatives and other members of the treatment team. Maintains patient scheduling functions, and sets patient appointments through established guidelines. Interviews and completes the registration process for patients utilizing the specific service. Performs cashiering functions as it relates to co-payments or other patient payments/collections. May perform routine clerical duties for the department. Accurately post Insurance payments, which includes electronic and/or manual keying to the Invoice, according to The Explanation Of Benefits(EOB) Or Other Back-up Received, including Insurance denials and zero dollar EOB's. Accurately Post Self-Pay payments, which includes electronic and/or manual keying of patient checks, pre-admit cash sheets, and Collection agency remits. Post electronic payments as assigned, resolve any unapplied and/or withhold issues. Track any ongoing issues, to resolution; while keeping management informed throughout the process. Research, by Payor assignment, any payments posted to unapplied clearing account, due to the inability to identify to a Patient Invoice or Account. Research may include calling Insurance companies, Business Groups, Accounting personnel and/or performing internet research by accessing Payor websites. Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider. Provides a standard. of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers. Participates in performance improvement projects. Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED equivalent or GED required 1 year - medical assistant - preferred 2 years - Two to Four years of clerical customer service experience - ideally in a healthcare facility.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required at time of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
Medical Terminology Certificate required - within 30 days
Driver's License Florida - required - at time of hire
80-100% - Travel
Current Florida Driver's License and proof of auto insurance required at time of hire.
