Formación

Overview

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs.
• Prepare patients for the provider's care.
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participate in performance improvement projects.
• Participate as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
• Provide a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.

Qualifications

• 1-year - Medical assistant – preferred.
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry - preferred.
• 1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data and reviewing - preferred.

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hire.
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma / GED Required at time of hire

Additional Details

May travel to other clinics under additional duties.
