Job summary

UF Health seeks a Mobile Medical Assistant to support UFJPI and UF Health clinic locations. You will provide clinical and administrative support under physician supervision, greet patients, and assist with a range of duties across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include patient check-in, scheduling, basic lab work, venipuncture, medication administration under supervision, and EMR data entry. Requires CMA and BLS, with 80–100% travel to UFJPI sites.

Qualifications

• 1 year Medical assistant preferred.
• 2 years Clerical/customer service experience - ideally in a health care related industry preferred
• 1 year experience with third party payors and data entry (demographics) preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Current Florida Driver's License and proof of auto insurance required at time of hire
• Certification/Licensure: CMA required at time of hire; BLS required; MA program completed from an accredited body

• Direct messages and coordinate with departments, physicians, and external organizations.
• Manage patient scheduling and appointment bookings.
• Enter patient dispositions, codes, orders, and payments in the EMR.
• Perform cashiering for co-pays and patient payments as needed.
• Conduct basic lab procedures and vital signs.
• Perform venipuncture and administer routine medications under physician supervision.
• Collect lab specimens as directed by provider.
• Support treatment team with administrative and clinical tasks.

Job Duties

Travels to UFJPI and UF Health on and off campus clinic locations to provide coverage for Medical Assistant vacancies. Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the department/practice. A multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities

• Receives and directs messages, (electronic, in person and telephone calls) to the appropriate personnel. Makes contacts to other departments, physicians, patients and other outside organizations as necessary for the departmental/practice operations.
• Maintains patient scheduling functions, and sets patient appointments through established guidelines.
• Interviews and completes the registration process for patients utilizing the specific service.
• Keys patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, patient orders, charges and payments as defined in the electronic medical record.
• Performs cashiering functions as it relates to co-payments or other patient payments/collections. May perform routine clerical duties for the department.
• Perform basic laboratory procedures including aseptic procedures and taking patient’s vital signs.
• Perform venipuncture and administer routine, non-controlled medications.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Provides excellent customer service for patients/families/representatives and other members of the treatment team.

• 1 year One year experience with third party payors and computer experience for in putting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required

This position requires 80-100% travel to various UFJPI clinical locations.

Current Florida Drivers License and proof of auto insurance required at time of hire

Certification/Licensure

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required at time of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred within 30 days
• Driver's License Florida required - at time of hire
• Requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.

Travel: 80% - 100% travel
