Qualifications

• 1 year medical assistant experience preferred.
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience in healthcare preferred.
• 1 year experience with third party payors and data entry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take patient’s vital signs and prepare for provider care.
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Document all entries in the medical record with signature, date and time.
• Administer medication under the direct supervision of licensed physician.
• Observe and report patient signs or symptoms; collect routine lab specimens.

Overview

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs. Prepare patients for the provider's care. Assist with patient examinations or treatments
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
• Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

1-year - Medical assistant – preferred

2– 4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry - preferred

1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data and reviewing - preferred

Certification/Licensure Requirements

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 months

Basic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hire-American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Medical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire
