Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Torrance, CA is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse I to perform moderately complex patient-oriented duties under supervision. You will assist with examinations, administer medications, and support RN and clinicians in patient flow and data collection.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
• Active, unrestricted LVN license from the state of California.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain at time of hire.
• IV and Blood withdrawal certified.
• ACLS certification (preferred).
• PALS certification (preferred).
• 1+ years of LVN/LPN experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Direct patient to proper exam/treatment area and prepare patient for examinations and other procedures.
• Obtain records and reports vital signs and other pertinent patient information to the RN or clinician.
• Administer medication, perform various patient tests and instruct patients on procedural preparations under supervision.
• Notify pharmacies of new prescriptions and authorizations of new refills as ordered by the clinician.
• Collect, label, and transport various specimens to appropriate destinations.
• Maintain and cleans exam/treatment areas and medical equipment.
• Maintain logs, records of medical procedures, and inventories of supplies.
• Perform telephone screening.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
