Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking an Engineer Systems 3 – Federation Manager to support NSWC Corona LVC training at Quantico, VA. You will ensure interoperability across DIS/HLA-enabled systems and manage federation configurations for live, virtual, and constructive environments.

Responsibilities include overseeing protocol compliance, synchronization of enumerations, and real-time issue resolution during exercises, with a focus on secure, scalable LVC

Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years applicable work experience
• Must be familiar with Linux (command line) and Windows operating systems
• Must have technical leadership ability. During LVC training event execution, must be able to address technical issues by understanding which engineering domain problems belong to and then assign engineers from the appropriate domains to resolve issues.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable communicating at various levels of the organization. This may involve lower-level technical collaboration on issues with assigned engineers or high level explanation of issues and/or status updates with senior leadership
• Must have familiar with MS Office
• A current CompTIA Security + certification is required for the position
• Must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance

Responsibilities

• Maintain the operational readiness of the LVC federation, ensuring that all systems are calibrated and synchronized for upcoming training exercises.
• Oversee the implementation and management of DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation) and High-Level Architecture (HLA) protocols to ensure effective and standardized data exchange and interoperability among the various components of the LVC training federation.
• Stand up and configure HLA federations specifically for training exercises, ensuring that all participating systems are properly integrated and synchronized to support the planned scenarios.
• Manages and synchronize enumerations across all simulation platforms to ensure they match the master class list.
• Regularly assess and ensure compatibility of all simulation systems with DIS and HLA protocols.
• Coordinate and manage system updates and upgrades to maintain protocol compatibility.
• Conduct rigorous integration testing across different systems participating in the federation to verify their compatibility with DIS and HLA protocols.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues specifically related to DIS and HLA protocols.
• Provide real-time technical support during LVC training exercises, ensuring any DIS and HLA related issues are quickly identified and addressed.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurrent or critical issues associated with DIS and HLA protocols.
