Role

Engineer Systems 3 – Federation Manager in support of Navy Surface Warfare Center – Corona (NSWC Corona) in providing Marine Corps Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training. The position is located at the Training Support Center (TSC), Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, HI. This role supports operational testing, development, and integration of Navy and Marine Corps LVC training systems to ensure compatibility, interoperability, and that training needs are met. Flexibility is required as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted.

Responsibilities

• Maintain LVC federation operational readiness, ensuring all systems are calibrated and synchronized for training exercises.
• Plan scalability by anticipating future needs and integrating additional capabilities without disrupting operations.
• Implement and manage DIS and HLA protocols to ensure effective and standardized data exchange and interoperability.
• Stand up and configure HLA federations for training exercises, monitor performance, troubleshoot, and optimize in real time.
• Manage and synchronize enumerations across simulation platforms to match the master class list, ensuring data integrity.
• Assess compatibility of all simulation systems with DIS and HLA protocols, verifying adherence to specifications.
• Coordinate and manage system updates and upgrades to maintain protocol compatibility.
• Conduct integration testing across systems to verify compatibility with DIS and HLA protocols.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to DIS and HLA protocols during exercises.
• Provide real‑time technical support during LVC training exercises, minimizing impact on training effectiveness.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurrent or critical issues related to DIS and HLA protocols and implement long‑term solutions.

Requirements

• 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years relevant experience with a Master’s degree; 0 years with a PhD or Juris Doctor; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance.
• Must be familiar with Linux command line and Windows operating systems.
• Must have technical leadership ability to address technical issues and assign engineers from appropriate domains during LVC training events.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable communicating at various organizational levels.
• Must be familiar with MS Office.
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification required.

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline plus 6 to 8 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as HLA and DIS.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
• Experience with MS Visio to produce technical architecture drawings.
• Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS.
• Experience working with Navy systems and/or commands.

Physical Requirements

Work in office, industrial, or shipboard environments. Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variations. Ability to lift and move materials may be required.
