Job summary

Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego seeks a personable Host/Hostess to greet guests, manage reservations, and coordinate seating with a focus on superior guest service. You will handle phone inquiries, maintain hostess area organization, and support servers and management with accurate guest communication.

Requirements include a High School diploma, Food Handlers Card, and strong communication and basic math skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Food Handlers Card and be a High School graduate.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math and calculator skills; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Display a congenial appearance and be well groomed at all times.
• Communicate reservations and guest comments to management and servers.
• Welcome guests to the restaurant and coordinate seating and reservations.
• Answer all phone calls at the hostess stand.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hostess stand and entryway.
• Oversee maintenance of Reservation and Hostess equipment, software and supplies.
• Relay guest profiles and expectations to servers and management.
• Perform clerical tasks including use of OpenTable.

The Host will greet and assist guests in a positive, polite and professional manner.They will also maintain a proactive approach to solving any guest’s questions or problems. The Host will anticipate guests’ needs, and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.

Job responsibilities include; although are not limited to:

• Display a congenial appearance and is well groomed at all times.
• Communicate all reservations and guest comments to management and servers.
• Welcoming guests to the restaurant.
• Coordinating the seating of guests and managing reservations.
• Answer all phone calls received at the hostess stand.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of hostess stand and entryway.
• Oversee maintenance of all Reservation and Hostess equipment, software and supplies.
• Communication of guest profile and expectations is essential to relay forward to servers and management.
• Perform general clerical tasks including utilization of Open Table.
