Job summary

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA HOST PROPERTIES INC. seeks a Director of Residence to lead Birdwood Mansion’s hotel, dining, and banquet operations to align with Boar’s Head Resort standards.

The role reports to the Managing Director, driving revenue growth and guest satisfaction through proactive leadership, team development, and cross-department collaboration with resort leadership and shared services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in hotel operations, fine dining food and beverage, and banquet management.
• Minimum of 5–8 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, cocktails, and beverage service.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, mentor, and develop team members.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to exceptional guest service and consistently high service standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily hotel, dining, catering, and banquet operations for Birdwood Mansion.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, coaching, and performance expectations to ensure service standards.
• Coordinate with resort leadership and shared services to drive revenue growth and guest satisfaction.
• Ensure financial performance and consistent guest experiences across all areas of the residence.
