Job summary

The Pastry Cook role at Highgate Hotels is based in Paradise Valley, AZ, supporting the Kimpton Miralina Resort's dessert, pastry and bread program. You will follow recipes, prepare quality desserts, and maintain sanitation standards to meet health codes.

This hourly position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a luxury hospitality environment. Candidates should have a culinary/pastry degree (or equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant

Qualifications

• Culinary / Pastry & Baking degree or related training - preferred
• 1 year of relevant work experience in similar scope and title – required
• Experience within luxury brand/markets – preferred
• Food Safety certification – preferred or attained within 30 days
• Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
• Basic knowledge of baking & pastry production
• Proficient in handling knives and culinary tools
• Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook as well as POS systems
• Able to read, understand and produce in a timely manner

Responsibilities

• Follows recipes to properly and efficiently prepare and present all dessert, pastry and bread items.
• Checks restaurant par list to ensure adequate prep for shift.
• Measure and mix ingredients for dough or batter.
• Prepare and cook ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards and other desserts.
• Adjusts drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures.
• Mixes ingredients to make icings.
• Decorates cakes and pastries
• Maintain a neat and organized work area adhering to sanitation standards.
