Job summary

Visual Comfort & Co. is seeking a Lighting Technology Designer to design, specify, and layout lighting control systems and automated shading solutions for premium residential projects.

You will collaborate with our Project Design, Business Development, and Project Management teams, as well as clients and design partners, to create intelligent, beautifully lit environments. The role requires a degree in lighting design or related field, 3+ years of project-based experience, proficiency with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in lighting design, architecture, industrial engineering, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of project-based residential lighting design, control, or drafting experience.
• Lutron/AVIXA/CEDIA certifications a plus; ability to earn/maintain certifications related to lighting controls, shading systems, and residential tech.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Acrobat, and Excel; Dialux or AGI32 helpful.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Experience in luxury home furnishings/lighting industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of residential construction processes and construction documents.
• Experience presenting solutions to customers.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, efficient, and creative system layouts and documentation for lighting, lighting control and motorized shading solutions, using AutoCAD and/or other design tools.
• Execute technology design plans within Visual Comfort standards, ensuring consistency across designs and client deliverables.
• Lead technology presentations to builders, interior designers, architects, and integrators.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Project Designers, and Project Management Teams to convert new customers and develop relationships.
• Leverage product knowledge to act as a technical resource to internal teams and clients.
• Travel for client meetings, project walk-throughs, and site visits within showroom markets.
• Meet milestones and deadlines for design phases.
• Work with team to identify and resolve problems.
