The Lake, a new private social club opening Fall 2026 in Chicago’s River North, is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations across multiple venues. This role emphasizes culinary excellence, teamwork, and a culture of high performance.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5+ years in progressive kitchen roles, with experience in luxury settings and a passion for leadership, mentorship, and continuous improvement. Location: Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in progressive kitchen roles, including Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook.
• Experience in luxury restaurants, hotels, or private clubs preferred.
• Strong understanding of classical cooking techniques and kitchen organization.
• Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations and ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.
• Lead service periods and ensure timely dish execution at high standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper food handling per health and safety rules.
• Coordinate with front-of-house for seamless service and guest experience.
• Assist in menu development, tastings, and seasonal updates as directed by the Exec Chef.
• Participate in pre-opening activities and staff training.
