Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a skilled Composites Technician to own composite manufacturing end-to-end, from layup to integration. You will set up work areas, operate precision tools, and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, and efficiency.

This role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure high-quality composites for spaceflight hardware. The position requires interpreting drawings, working with adhesives and thermal blankets, and lifting up to 50

Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or composite fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with precision calibration tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
  • Hands-on with adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets in composites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare production areas with tooling and equipment for high-rate composite manufacturing.
  • Perform layup, bagging, curing, trimming, drilling, and assembly of composites to spec.
  • Integrate composite hardware into vehicles and subsystems ensuring fit and integrity.
  • Operate material handling and precision tools while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects for safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain composite hardware and shop equipment.
  • Maintain 5S compliant, clean, organized work areas and document results.
  • Apply specialty materials like adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to resolve issues.
  • Document process steps, inspections, test results, and anomalies per standards.
  • Support transition to full-scale production with process validation and improvements.
  • Participate in training, emergency response, and critical operations as needed.
