Job summary

Blue Origin LLC on Space Coast, FL is seeking a Composites Technician to own the lifecycle of composite manufacturing from layup through integration. You will prepare production areas, lay up, cure, trim and assemble components, and integrate hardware into vehicles with strict quality control.

You’ll work in a team-focused environment with 5S practices, safety emphasis, and opportunities to lead continuous improvement projects while supporting production and development activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace manufacturing, composite fabrication, integration, or related technical field (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician, 8+ Sr Level Technician)
• Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Proficiency with precision calibration tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, and optical measurement devices
• Hands-on experience with adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets in composite applications
• Perform Composite layup such as: Carbon Pre-Preg, Carbon fibers, Fiberglass, and Hand Layups
• Carbon composites cutting and drilling operations
• Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs and working at heights and/or in confined spaces as required
• Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications
• Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality

Responsibilities

• Prepare production work areas with tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform layup, bagging, curing, trimming, drilling, and assembly of composite components per blueprints.
• Integrate composite hardware into vehicles and subsystems with proper finish and integrity.
• Operate material handling equipment and precision tools to maintain safety and quality.
• Lead and support continuous improvement projects targeting safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain composite hardware and shop equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S principles.
• Apply specialty materials on composite structures and hardware.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to resolve challenges.
• Document process steps, inspections, test results, and anomalies.
• Support transition from development to full-scale production and participate in process validation.
• Participate in training, emergency response, and critical operations as needed.
