Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Fluids Systems Analyst to join the Plume Analysis team for the Lunar Transfer Stage. You will simulate plume environments across rarefied and continuum regimes, coordinate with design teams, and deliver results for NASA collaborations.

The role spans preprocessing, simulation, and post-processing, with interaction across thermal, structures, GNC, and EVA teams to inform lunar lander design decisions.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; B.S. with commensurate experience considered

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design teams to translate requirements into simulation tasks
• Develop plume flowfield characterization approaches and boundary conditions
• Execute full analysis pipeline: CAD preparation, meshing, CFD/DSMC, post-processing, results delivery
• Perform 2D axisymmetric and 3D CFD simulations of nozzle and plume flowfields
• Perform rarefied gas dynamics (DSMC) analysis for far-field environments and surface heating
• Develop Python-based post-processing pipelines for heat flux, pressure, and ejecta distributions
• Deliver surface heat flux and pressure boundary conditions to design teams via BCM and reports
• Support NASA collaborations with ongoing deliverables and meetings
• Document analyses in reports conforming to NASA HLS DRD standards
