Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Fluids Systems Analyst to join the Plume Analysis team for the Lunar Transfer Stage vehicle. You will simulate plume flowfields across continuum and rarefied regimes, coordinating with design teams and delivering results to inform thermal, structural, GNC and EVA analyses.

You will work with NASA and partners under the HLS program, developing Python-based post-processing pipelines and reporting per DRD standards.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Aerospace/Mechanical Eng preferred; BS with commensurate experience accepted.
• 5–7 years experience in space vehicle or high-altitude flow modeling.
• Experience with full CFD process: geometry prep, meshing, solver, post-processing.
• Understanding of compressible fluid mechanics and heat transfer in rocket environments.
• Familiar with rarefied flow modeling (DSMC) and related concepts.
• Proficiency in Python for scientific computing and post-processing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design teams to translate requirements into simulation tasks.
• Develop plume flowfield characterization and surface impingement heat flux studies.
• Execute CAD/mesh prep, CFD/DSMC simulations, post-processing and results delivery.
• Perform 2D axisymmetric and 3D CFD simulations on HPC/cloud resources.
• Conduct rarefied gas dynamics analysis for far-field plume environments.
