Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an engineer to integrate thermal and fluid systems for the MK1 Lunar Lander. You will own vehicle-level thermal/fluids requirements, validate them, and manage leak budgets across mission phases.

You will coordinate ICDs, design parameters, and test scopes for spaceflight hardware, including cryogenic components, and lead anomaly investigations to drive performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience with a focus on thermal and fluid systems for spacecraft.
  • Strong understanding of integrated thermal and fluid spacecraft systems including active and passive thermal control.
  • Experience with thermal and fluid analysis and model anchoring and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft fluid and thermal components including cryogenic tanks, accumulators, fluid lines, valves, regulators, fittings, and heaters.
  • Experience with interface definition and management across complex spacecraft systems.
  • Experience planning, reviewing, and supporting execution of integrated tests on spacecraft involving pressurized fluid systems.
  • Experience leading anomaly resolution and root cause investigations on flight hardware.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card) or lawfully admitted to the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain integrated vehicle-level thermal and fluid system requirements and lead their verification and validation.
  • Define and manage integrated thermal and fluid interface control documents (ICD) across vehicle subsystems.
  • Own and maintain the vehicle leak budget, ensuring all contributions are tracked, dispositioned, and within acceptable limits.
  • Serve as the vehicle level component temperature limits owner, ensuring hardware operates within defined thermal margins across mission phases.
  • Define and manage design parameters related to integrated thermal and fluid systems.
  • Define proof and leak test scope and success criteria for pressurized fluid systems across the vehicle.
  • Own or support vehicle test scope for integrated vehicle tests involving thermal and fluid systems.
  • Define test objectives and success criteria in test matrices, traced to requirements, design parameters, budgets, and interfaces.
  • Review test procedures involving pressurized cryogenic and non-cryogenic fluid systems and support test execution.
  • Review and interpret test data to assess performance and health at system and component level.
  • Support test and operation efforts by investigating root cause and corrective actions and dispositioning non-conformances and event reports.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and resource needs.
