Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced valve designer for the Lunar Permanence team in Seattle. You will own components from requirements through verification, performing design analyses and CAD modeling, and coordinating with suppliers to deliver flight hardware.

Qualifications include a B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace and 6+ years in valve or fluids component design, with CREO, GD&T, ANSYS, and Thermal Desktop proficiency. US citizenship or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 6+ years in valve and/or mechanical+fluids component design.
  • Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (valves, regulators, pumps).
  • Experience designing parts in CREO.
  • Ability to apply GD&T for manufacturable, high performing drawings.
  • Experience with design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop.
  • Ability to define and support testing, data analysis and iterate designs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident or eligible for asylum/refugee status.

Responsibilities

  • Design next-generation valves for the Lunar program through full lifecycle.
  • Model valves, propulsion elements, sensors in CAD; size components.
  • Select materials and analyze flow, pressure, vibration, thermal loads.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to procure and install flight hardware.
  • Perform first-order analyses to verify designs.
