Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a mechanical/aerospace engineer to design and analyze the Reaction Control System (RCS) fluids sub-system for the Lunar Permanence vehicle. You will size, select materials, and analyze components, while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to meet performance and schedule goals.

The role involves CAD work (Creo preferred), P&ID creation in AutoCAD, and rigorous testing of hydraulic and pressurized hardware to ensure safety and reliability for spaceflight applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 1+ years of proven experience in aerospace fluid or mechanical systems design.
• Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred).
• Knowledge with hypergolic systems.
• Proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) drawing practices.
• Experience with flow and pressure calculations and thermal/structural analysis.
• Experience with valves, tubing, and pressurized hardware.
• Hands-on experience building/testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components.
• Ability to define interfaces between vehicle subsystems.
• Familiarity with fluid system installation and fabrication methods.

Responsibilities

• Fluids sub-assembly design and development; create specs and procure components; CAD designs and P&IDs.
• Design specifications for fluid/gas components: valves, manifolds, regulators, vessels.
• Develop and maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other subsystems.
• Design and analyze custom fluid, thermal, and structural components.
• Perform component verification to company standards.
