Job summary

Parr Lumber Company is seeking a yard associate for outdoor work in our lumberyard. You will safely handle lumber, operate equipment, and support delivery loading in all weather conditions. This role requires attention to safety, adherence to processes, and good teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Working days are rotating Monday through Saturday with physical duties such as lifting up to 80 pounds and standing for long periods. The role offers competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to speak, write, and read English required.
• OSHA Forklift Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles and protocols.
• Knowledge of dimension lumber, species, panel products and other building materials.
• Ability to read and interpret picking tickets and invoices.
• Puncture-resistant, slip-resistant footwear required.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate equipment and maintain yard cleanliness.
• Perform daily safety audits of saws and equipment; report issues.
• Use proper shutdown and maintenance procedures.
• Wear required PPE at all times and enforce safety rules.
• Load lumber by hand and with forklift; cut lumber to dimensions.
• Maintain and service equipment; replace blades when needed.
• Sort materials and prepare packs by wall number for orders.
• Coordinate load optimization for delivery and load planning.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
