Job summary

Central Transport is seeking an operations supervisor for the Memphis, TN terminal to oversee dock operations and lead a team of drivers and dock staff. The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of LTL trucking, and the ability to manage loading, palletizing and carrier loads.

The ideal candidate has prior management experience in transportation, can hire and mentor staff, and is comfortable working a 50-hour week with flexible shifts. A degree is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a team, preferably in transportation operations.
• Strong leadership and people-management capabilities.
• Solid understanding of the LTL trucking industry and dock operations.
• Ability to hire, coach, counsel, train and mentor employees.
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week average and flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dock operations for your designated section of the terminal dock.
• Load, manage forklift traffic, and oversee proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and weight of trailers.
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hands.
• Monitor dock production and overtime; maintain safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA.
