Job summary

Oak Harbor Freight Lines, Inc. is seeking a Claims Specialist to mitigate and manage cargo claims and control expenses while ensuring customer satisfaction when shipments are damaged or lost. The role entails investigating claims, maintaining files, and educating customers on claims processes.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year claims experience in an LTL environment, knowledge of NMFC rules, strong communication, and PC skills. AS400 is a plus, with a HS diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• Must have either Transportation (Freight) and/or Claims Investigation experience.
• Basic knowledge of NMFC rules and regulations in an LTL environment preferred.
• 1+ year experience in claims in an LTL environment preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to think critically.
• Ability to work successfully with internal / customers to resolve issues/claims.
• Strong PC proficiency and experience using MS Office products.
• AS400 experience preferred but not required.
• H.S. diploma or GED/equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, investigate, and process cargo claims per OAKH Policy and Federal Statute.
• Maintain accurate claims files.
• Print / Scan claims from the “Claims Email Inbox”.
• Assist and educate Internal / External Customers regarding claims processes.
• Answer status calls regarding claims and provide customer support during the claims process to ensure positive experience for our customers.
• Assist with Salvage/OSD requests.
