Job summary

This role focuses on maintaining high-quality care and supervising daily nursing activities on the unit.

You will lead shift planning, document care, administer medications, and collaborate with other departments to uphold privacy and safety for residents.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be able to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and relevant laws/regulations in care facilities.
• Current CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants.
• Plan the shift’s services and activities with assigned staff.
• Submit written and oral reports as required.
• Admit, transfer and discharge residents and supervise staff.
• Complete and file required records upon admissions/transfers/discharges.
• Receive and transcribe physician orders and document on forms.
• Chart nurse notes reflecting care and resident response.
• Prepare and administer medications per physician orders.
• Develop rapport with inter-departmental personnel to maintain care quality.
• Create a warm, calm, and professional atmosphere on the unit.
• Give and receive nursing reports at shift changes.
• Make rounds with physicians as needed.
• Monitor safety and proper use of equipment by staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
