Job summary

CSL in Hidalgo, TX is seeking a qualified healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. Under general supervision, you will interview donors, review medical histories, and determine eligibility to donate plasma.

You will provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff in accordance with licensure, escalate critical cases to the Center Physician, and counsel donors on reactive test results with referrals as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
  • Licensed as a physician or state EMTC/RN/DO where applicable.
  • Minimum of one year in a health care environment.
  • Experience in a plasma or whole blood center preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical assessment and interpret vital signs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
  • Interviews donors and performs medical history reviews to determine donation eligibility.
  • Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff per licensure.
  • Respond with Center Medical Director to medically related questions.
  • Review test results and assess donor ongoing suitability.
  • Counsel donors on reactive results and refer for follow-up services.
  • Follow SOPs and escalate critical medical situations to appropriate physicians.
