Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Beaumont, TX seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor incidents, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings under center physician guidance.

You will participate in donor safety, vaccination programs for staff, and adhere to FDA training requirements, EHS guidance, and SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized nursing program per state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibilities: LPN or LVN.
• CPR and AED certification are current.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history, physical exam, testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed for medical or technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if occupational health evaluation is required; refer to EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations as needed.
