Job summary

Behavioral Health Network (BHN) in Massachusetts is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the MAT/OTP team. You will prepare and administer medications, document care, and uphold DEA/state guidelines while supporting individuals in recovery.

The role emphasizes teamwork under medical leadership, with duties centered on medication administration and ongoing patient assessments within a mission-driven organization committed to equity and quality care.

Qualifications

  • Current Massachusetts Board of Registration license as an LPN.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Collaborate with and appropriately delegate to other caregivers.
  • Understand ethics and legal parameters of substance use disorder treatment.
  • Proficient in Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Work under supervision of Medical Director and Nursing Director.
  • Prepare and administer medication accurately and timely.
  • Chart medication administration in nurse's notes.
  • Ensure safekeeping of all medication stock and records.
  • Majority of time dedicated to medication administration tasks.
  • Conduct urine collection and processing; document results.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of individuals in recovery.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with health care team with compassion.

What You Will Do
  • Work under the supervision of the Medical Director and Nursing Director, maintaining practical nursing professional standards of care
  • Prepare and administer medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed
  • Chart medication administration in nurse's notes accurately and in a timely manner, documenting nursing care provided and maintaining appropriate records related to individuals' progress and activities
  • Ensure the safekeeping of all medication stock and associated records required by State, Federal, and DEA guidelines
  • Dedicate the majority of scheduled work hours to medication administration activities, with remaining time allocated to other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Nursing Director
  • Conduct urine collection and processing, read test results as ordered by Program Physicians, and complete all associated documentation
  • Perform thorough biophysical, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments of individuals in recovery from substance use, recognizing the unique needs of dually diagnosed individuals and special populations
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with members of the health care team, providing care with kindness and sensitivity that preserves individuals' autonomy, dignity, and rights
Who You Are
  • Current Massachusetts Board of Registration license as a Licensed Practical Nurse required
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applying the nursing process to individuals served and their families
  • Able to collaborate with and appropriately delegate to other caregivers
  • Knowledgeable in utilization/review standards, quality assurance, and CARF standards
  • Able to understand, empathize, and work effectively with an addicted population, including those with co-occurring disorders
  • Working knowledge of the ethics and legal parameters of substance use disorder treatment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay Range: $30.25-$37.50/hour

Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:30am-2:00pm and rotating Saturdays, 6:30am-10:30am
