Job summary

Advocate Health in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams in a busy outpatient clinic. You will prepare patients, obtain vital signs, collect specimens, perform basic lab tasks, and assist physicians with procedures under supervision.

Applicants should have a GED or HS equivalency, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable experience, and BLS certification within 45 days.

Qualifications

• GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable MA experience in the last 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days unless exempted by department leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting health information.
• Monitor and complete Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures within scope.
• Perform laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
• Assist physicians/APP with procedures such as pelvic exams, testing, and related procedures.
• Administer routine medications under physician/APP orders or standing protocols.
• Refer questions to RNs/Physician or APP and relay information to patients as directed.
• Communicate with the health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow and accurate information exchange.
• Demonstrate knowledge to provide age-appropriate patient care and adapt to department policies.
