Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a Wisconsin clinic. You will perform rooming, vital signs, history collection, and health screenings, and assist providers with procedures. The role includes specimen collection, POCT, and CLIA-waived tests.

You will administer vaccines, manage refills, scheduling, and referrals, and collaborate with a team while maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment. BLS is required within 45 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, screenings.
  • Assists providers with procedures as ordered.
  • Performs lab tasks: venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, POCT, CLIA waived tests.
  • Administers medications and vaccines following medication administration rights.
  • Handles duties like refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
  • Cross trained for duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice.
  • Maintains clean work environment and ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.
  • Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care and growth/development considerations.
