Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing assessment with vital signs data collection.
• Provide care per established nursing plan and monitor patient changes.
• Perform ostomy care, NG tube placement/feeding and oral-gastric tube management.
• Initiate/monitor oxygen therapy per orders or protocol.
• Assist physician during examinations and support OR if needed.

The ideal candidate delivers compassionate, professional service and is committed to contributing to a collaborative team and providing high-quality patient experience.General SummaryUnder general supervision, provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.Essential ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.Assists with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.Provides care according to an established nursing plan.Observes changes in patient’s condition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.Provides routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement, and discontinuing of oral-gastric tube. Initiates and monitors oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol.Suctions and cleans tracheotomy sites.May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal, and topical medications.Prepares patients for routine physical examinations and assist the physician during examinations.An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.General ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assigned.Education RequirementsHS Diploma or GED required.Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.Experience RequirementsNo experience required.License/Certification/Registration RequirementsCurrent Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC) required.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients.Must be knowledgeable about operating room techniques if applying for a surgery position.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Current OU Health Employees - Please click HERE to login.OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
