Aston Group seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to oversee resident care on the assigned unit in a New York facility. You will supervise staff, administer medications, and ensure compliance with health, sanitation and infection control policies.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
• Minimum one year of education or experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice, including administration of medications.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
• CPR certified.

Responsibilities

• Holds daily shift report with nursing assistants and reviews assignments; ensures completion.
• Rounds on assigned residents at least every two hours.
• Administers medications and treatments per physician orders; orders medications.
• Collaborates with Care Plan Coordinator to develop and update nursing care plans monthly or as conditions change.
• Assists the attending physician with rounds and procedures as needed.
• Transcribes, documents and implements physician orders.
• Notifies physician and family about changes in resident condition; informs supervisor.
• Conducts annual evaluations of nursing assistants and documents performance; uses records for promotions and wage decisions.
• Documents disciplinary concerns for nursing assistants and recommends actions.
• Completes required routine documentation and audits.
• Participates in hiring, interviewing and orientation of nursing assistants.
• Assists in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process.
