Job summary

Onyx Health Consulting is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to oversee resident care on an assigned unit, administer medications, and guide nursing staff in accordance with policies.

The role requires a Florida LPN license, knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and CPR certification. Prior geriatric or rehabilitation experience is preferred. You will participate in care planning, document orders, and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Active Practical Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of one year of education or experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice, including administration of medications.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Holds daily shift report with nursing assistants assigned to the unit prior to the start of the shift.
• Reviews written daily assignments for each resident and ensures completion before shift end.
• Administers medications and treatments according to physician orders; assumes responsibility for ordering medications.
• Collaborates with Care Plan Coordinator to develop and maintain nursing care plans and update them monthly or as condition changes.
• Assists attending physician with rounds and special procedures as needed.
• Transcribes, documents and implements physician orders.
• Notifies physician and family of changes in resident condition; informs supervising staff.
• Performs annual evaluations of nursing assistants and documents performance; uses records for employment decisions.
• Documents disciplinary concerns for nursing assistants and recommends actions.
• Completes routine documentation and auditing as required.
• Participates in hiring, interviewing and orientation of nursing assistants.
• Assists in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) processes.

Education

Practical Nurse licensed in the State of employment

Geriatric nursing or rehabilitation experience preferred

Nursing theory and practice including administration of medications

Ability to read, write and comprehend English

CPR certified
