Job summary

Quality Correctional Health Care is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time day and night shifts in St. Mary Parish, LA.

Provides nursing services under physician direction in a correctional environment and handles medication orders, patient intake, and sick calls. The role requires an LPN/LVN license, CPR certification, and at least one year of clinical experience, with preference for correctional health care experience.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an Accredited Vocational/Technical School.
• Current and valid LPN or LVN license.
• Current CPR.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a health care setting as an LPN.
• One year of experience in a correctional health care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond and intervene in all emergency situations.
• Conduct Patient Intake paperwork.
• Verify and obtain orders for patient medication.
• Conduct Sick Call clinic.
• Order / maintain supply of patient medication from pharmacy.
• Administer medications following nursing standards and correctional regulations.
• Complete and document ordered treatments, patient care, and collection ordered labs.
• Assist provider with Chronic Care Clinic and Provider sick call visit.
• Monitor for, report and document changes in patient's condition.
• Accurately document all patient information, nursing care and interventions.
• Ensure daily nursing task are completed within prescribed timeframe.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
• Follow QCHC policies, procedures & guidelines.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
