Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a medical assistant for an ambulatory office setting in Indiana. You will work closely with physicians and caregivers to deliver appropriate treatment and interventions, document in EMR, and support the care team.

Requirements include a high school diploma, BLS certification (AHA preferred), and medical assisting certification (NCCT, AAMA, NHA or NAHP preferred). Prior clinical office and customer service experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification; BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
• Certification for Medical Assisting required – (NCCT, AAMA, NHA or NAHP preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians and caregivers to understand and address patient care needs in ambulatory settings.
• Demonstrate quality communication between the care team, patients, families, and external agencies.
• Assist in onboarding and continued education of new nursing staff and the nursing team.
• Assist in care navigation for patients through education on treatment plans, options, and resources.
• Document accurately in the EMR and follow policy for patient care.
• Room patients and document required and updated clinical information in the EMR per procedures.
• Monitor expiration dates and storage conditions of medications and supplies.
