Job summary

Methuen Public School District is hiring multiple Program Assistants for Lower School Pathways Sub Separate (5 openings). You will support students with autism in a lower school self-contained classroom, assisting with academics and implementing programming created by the special education teacher.

The role involves behavior management, helping with self-help skills and social skills, assisting with arrival and dismissal, and facilitating inclusion in general education classes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working with young children.
• Experience assisting in program implementation.
• Ability to work with professional staff.
• Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support students with autism in a lower school self-contained classroom.
• Assist with academics by implementing lesson plans/programming developed by the special education teacher.
• Support behavior management and implement behavior plans.
• Assist with self-help skills, toileting, social skills, and inclusion throughout the school environment.
• Assist with arrival/dismissal and inclusion into general education classes.
