Job summary

IES Communications in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Solutions Engineer to provide internal and customer process analytics and support the sales team with customer-facing services and solutions. The role includes day-to-day pre-construction deliverables and requests.

Qualified candidates will have 4–7 years in telecommunications or related fields, strong problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to read blueprints. Travel within the branch/regional territory is expected.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication; capable of giving presentations.
  • 4–7 years of experience in telecommunications or related technical/construction field; driving ability.

  • Provide technical and engineering information to customers by answering questions and requests.

Job Summary

The Solutions Engineer provides internal and customer process analytics and works with the sales team on customer-facing services and solutions. The Sales Engineer will also assist in the day-to-day pre-construction deliverables and requests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Sales Engineer will work with the sales team to design low-voltage solutions for IES clients. The Sales Engineer identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons able to understand service requirements. Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests. The Sales Engineer determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in the customer environment, engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services. The Sales Engineer will act as liaison between and meet with sales, project management and operations when a project is turned over for installation. The Sales Engineer prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information from site visits and customer meetings for the pre-construction and sales team. The Sales Engineer will attend training and review sessions on technical requirements per the Company’s training guidelines. The Sales Engineer will attend and complete job turnover meetings as required to cover all details and expectations of the project as they were designed. The Sales Engineer will handle other responsibilities as assigned. Minimum salary range: USD $65,000.00 per year – USD $125,000.00 per year.

Qualifications

Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s). Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners. Must have proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentations. Must have a high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting, and quality requirements. Must be able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed. Must be able to learn Company and customer project management systems. Must be able to manage multiple projects/estimates and present a high level of organization. Must have at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. RCDD certification preferred. Structured cabling industry experience preferred. Must have experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company. Minimum of five to seven years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project). Must meet Company minimum driving standards. Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Minimum years of experience: 4–6. License required. No minimum education beyond high school.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be able to perform the essential job functions, which may include sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to work in high temperature environments and travel frequently may be required.
