Job summary

IES is seeking a Field Engineer I for Data Center Services in theSan Antonio area. The role involves troubleshooting equipment, interpreting blueprints, and supporting project installations in the field.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of commercial low-voltage cabling experience, strong customer service, and proficient Microsoft Office skills. Travel within territory may be required, and a HS diploma is mandatory with a degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred; a high school diploma or GED required.
• 3–4 years of commercial low-voltage/structured cabling experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project documents.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems; test components and verify connections.

• Complete punch-lists and QA tests; ensure project handover to customers.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems, including testing, troubleshooting system components, field verification of connections, labels, installation, and work quality.
• Understand advanced system drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; create shop drawings and submittals for new project kick-offs.
• Manage technical work in the field with little supervision.
• Provide advanced support for project installation, assisting field staff and the project manager.
• Assist with maintaining and completing project punch‑lists for closeouts.
• Quality‑check the projects, test all equipment and functionality, and create punch lists.
• Assist sales staff as needed with product and system support.

• Meets company minimum driving standards.
• Manages multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to define a project, create a scope of work, develop detailed tasks, and manage to completion and customer turnover.
