Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Communications Technician for a contract position out of Fairfax, IA. The role focuses on installing outlets, routing cables through modular furniture, and performing pre-termination procedures with proper labeling and slack management.

The ideal candidate has experience with low-voltage systems, structured cabling, and mounting racks, with ability to work at heights and travel within territories if needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in outdoor or indoor construction environments.
• Self-motivated, professional and able to contribute to project processes.
• Ability to read blueprints and project documents, including specs and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets, drop cables, and route cabling through modular furniture.
• Perform pre-termination tasks, organize, dress, label cables, and ensure slack management.
• Suspend and support cables, install cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, and racks.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as required.
• Perform fire-stopping and terminate low-voltage devices.
