Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn Blacksburg University is seeking an outgoing Lounge Bartender to join the Food & Beverage team on a part-time basis. You will take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and help with light meals per hotel standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, knowledge of drinks, operating the POS, and upholding liquor regulations, with emphasis on guest service and upselling.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ to serve alcoholic beverages.
• 1 year experience as server or barback preferred.
• English language proficiency required.
• Knowledge of drink recipes and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas.
• Greet guests and take orders, using upselling techniques.
• Enter orders into POS system and ensure transmission to kitchen.
• Process guest checks and payments following cash handling policies.

Hilton Garden Inn Blacksburg University is looking for an outgoing mixologist to join their food and beverage team as Bartender.

This is a Part-Time position.

Overview

The Lounge Bartender will take orders, prepare, and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests, courteously and efficiently according to hotel specifications. He/she also will maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
• Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies.
• Always keep bank secure.
• Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. and manual systems.
• Greet guests and take their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques.
• Input orders into system and ensure transmission is verified by Bartender/Kitchen.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of tables, service areas and outlet itself.
• Present guest checks and process payments through the Bartender/Cashier. Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
• Clean and reset tables immediately after guests depart.
• Collect and report tips at the end of assigned shift.
• Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and Hotel requirements.
• Complete all closing reports in the P.O.S. system.
• Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager.

Education And Experience

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): or Work Equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• 1-year experience as a Server or Barback preferred but not required.
• Must have good understanding of the English language.
• Knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards.
• Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
• Certification in an alcohol awareness program.
• Certification in CPR.
• Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
• Previous guest/customer relations training.
• You will be operating a F&B establishment of a leisure driven hotel. We are seeking an outgoing individual who has the ability to keep conversations with our guests. We are looking for a positive energy and knowledgeable individual of the surrounding area.
