Job summary

Crestline Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Lounge Bartender in Baton Rouge to take orders, prepare and serve beverages and light meals per hotel standards. You will maintain stock, ensure cleanliness, and handle cash and POS transactions accurately.

The role requires knowledge of menu items, liquor regulations, and upselling techniques. Certifications in liquor/wine/food service and CPR are preferred. Must be at least 21 years old with good English communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• 1 year experience as a Server or Barback preferred but not required.
• Must have good understanding of the English language.
• Knowledge of drink recipes and beverage service standards.
• Certification in liquor, wine and food service.
• Certification in an alcohol awareness program.
• Certification in CPR.
• Ability to input/access information in the property management system/computers/POS system.
• Guest relations training and ability to engage guests positively.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and take orders (food & beverage) with upselling in mind.
• Input orders and ensure transmission is verified by Bartender/Kitchen.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas.
• Present guest checks and process payments via Bartender/Cashier, adhering to cash policies.
• Keep tables and service areas clean and well organized.
• Document maintenance needs on work orders and report to Manager.

Overview:

The Lounge Bartender will take orders, prepare, and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests, courteously and efficiently according to hotel specifications. He/she also will maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
• Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies.
• Always keep bank secure.
• Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. and manual systems.
• Greet guests and take their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques.
• Input orders into system and ensure transmission is verified by Bartender/Kitchen.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of tables, service areas and outlet itself.
• Present guest checks and process payments through the Bartender/Cashier. Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
• Clean and reset tables immediately after guests depart.
• Collect and report tips at the end of assigned shift.
• Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and Hotel requirements.
• Complete all closing reports in the P.O.S. system.
• Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager.

Education and Experience:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): or Work Equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• 1-year experience as a Server or Barback preferredbut not required.
• Must have good understanding of the English language.
• Knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards.
• Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
• Certification in an alcohol awareness program.
• Certification in CPR.
• Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
• Previous guest/customer relations training.
