Job summary

Cox Automotive in Texas is seeking a Supervisor for Lot Operations to oversee daily activities of lot personnel and manage efficient staging and movement of vehicles for auctions. The role requires coordinating check-in, sale lanes, and fleet/lease preparation, while ensuring safety and adherence to policies.

The position follows a Tuesday-Saturday schedule (7am–7pm weekdays, 8am–5pm Saturdays) with opportunities for related incentive programs.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• High School Diploma and five years of relevant experience in a related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree and three years of relevant experience in a related field.
• Master’s Degree and up to two years of relevant experience in a related field.
• Ph.D. and up to one year of relevant experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with lot operations daily to ensure efficient operations before and after sale.
• Supervise the daily operation of the vehicle check-in area by supervising and coordinating the activities and the workflow of the sale lot drivers, check-in personnel, lane captains, and other lot operations employees.
• Ensure efficient lot operations by coordinating the movement of vehicles from check-in to the sale lanes. Supervise flow to ensure incoming vehicles are received, stocked in, numbered, and parked in the proper areas.
• Provide quality service and interact with customers to resolve any problems that may occur.
• Inspect and maintain lot operations equipment and ensure that it is functional and in good working condition.
• Monitor lot damage and meet with the Operations Manager regularly to review and resolve potential lot operations problems.
• Coordinate with Reconditioning
• Check-in, Factory, and Fleet/Lease departments to schedule and prepare vehicles for sale, ensure accurate and efficient vehicle check-in, and maintain the proper sequence of vehicles.
• Supervise and direct the work of lot operations employees by determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, expediting the workflow, assigning duties, and monitoring work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Assist the manager in counseling and disciplining employees as necessary.
• Under the direction of the manager, plan, monitor, and evaluate employee job performance, and assist the manager in conducting performance appraisals.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with safety leadership in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Work with manager to review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
• Effectively lead the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
