Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution is seeking a Lost and Found Property Custodian to manage day-to-day lost and found items and support overall property control for capitalization and controlled assets.

You will assist designated Property Custodians, help receive and track unclaimed property across SI museums, and ensure compliance with federal and Smithsonian property-safeguarding procedures while training Security staff in lost/found procedures.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience at GS-05 level or equivalent.
• Experience in property management and records handling.
• Training or oversight experience in security or lost/found procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring staff follow property management procedures.
• Assist with receiving and maintaining unclaimed property across SI museums.
• Provide oversight of property administration to safeguard federal and Smithsonian property.
• Train SI Security personnel on lost/found procedures and guidelines.
