Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Sandhills Stewardship Manager to lead restoration, management and prescribed fire programs across NC's Sandhills preserves. You will supervise a small team, coordinate with the NC Fire Manager and Southern Coastal Plain Program Director, and engage landowners and partners to advance conservation goals.

Ideal candidates have a BA/BS or related degree with 5+ years in natural resource management and demonstrated supervisory and fire-management experience,

Qualifications

• BA/BS, law or business degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Must meet one of the fire qualifications: NWCG RXB2; ENGB working towards ICT4; or state burn boss with Longleaf experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead restoration and management of TNC preserves in the Sandhills for biodiversity and resiliency.
• Oversee all fire management activities and burn plans for prescribed fires.
• Supervise four full-time staff and seasonal fire crews; manage budgets and contracts.
• Maintain restoration GIS databases, reporting and compliance with policies.
• Develop partnerships with federal, state and local conservation groups and landowners.
