Job summary

Williamston Community Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for Discovery Elementary. The successful candidate will support students with disabilities, align instruction to IEP goals, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

This full-time substitutive position requires a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and certification in special education. Start date is December 15, 2026, with a district-wide commitment to meeting student needs and ensuring program

Qualifications

• Holds a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
• Certification in one or more areas of special education.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers and other school personnel to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities.
• Develop and implement specially designed instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and identified needs.
• Provide direction, collaboration, and support to paraprofessionals to promote effective implementation of student programs and accommodations.
• Facilitate Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and IEP meetings and complete all related case management responsibilities.
• Facilitate student support and team meetings as needed.
• Implement positive behavioral supports and interventions consistent with student needs and IEPs.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Establish and maintain consistent, ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and programming.
• Collaborate with related service providers and other members of the educational team to ensure coordinated delivery of services.
