Job summary

Williamston Community Schools in Michigan is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for Discovery Elementary to support students with disabilities through collaboration with general education staff and the IEP process.

The teacher will develop and implement specially designed instruction, coordinate MET/IEP meetings, supervise paraprofessionals, maintain confidential records, and communicate with families, starting December 15, 2026.

Qualifications

• Holds a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
• Certification in one or more areas of special education.
• Approved to sub through EduStaff.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers and other school personnel to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities.
• Develop and implement specially designed instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals and identified needs.
• Provide direction, collaboration, and support to paraprofessionals to promote effective implementation of student programs and accommodations.
• Facilitate Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and IEP meetings and complete all related case management responsibilities.
• Facilitate student support and team meetings as needed.
• Implement positive behavioral supports and interventions consistent with student needs and IEPs.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Establish and maintain consistent, ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and programming.
• Collaborate with related service providers and other members of the educational team to ensure coordinated delivery of services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification in one or more areas of special education
• The individual must be approved to sub through EduStaff

RESPONSIBILITIES:

SALARY: $150-$200 per day, depending upon qualifications
