Qualifications

  • Massachusetts DESE Mathematics licensure (Grades 8–12) preferred.
  • Strong subject-matter knowledge in Algebra I/II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons for grades 9–12 aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Mathematics.
  • Use varied instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles.
  • Assess student progress with assignments, quizzes, and exams and provide timely feedback.

Position Type: Full-Time Temporary (12–16 weeks)

Anticipated Start Date: Mid to Late November

Rate of Pay: $260.00 per day (District Long-Term Substitute Rate)

Job Overview

Mount Greylock Regional School is seeking an engaging and qualified Long-Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction across grades 9–12, with a primary focus on Algebra and Calculus. The successful candidate will maintain instructional continuity, foster a supportive learning environment, and execute rigorous mathematical coursework during the regular teacher's absence.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Mathematics across grades 9–12, with emphasis on Algebra and Calculus coursework.

  • Utilize varied instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and support all student needs.

  • Assess student academic progress through regular assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams, providing timely feedback.

  • Maintain an orderly, inclusive, and positive classroom environment conducive to student growth and academic success.

  • Maintain accurate gradebook records and communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and administration regarding student performance or concerns.

  • Collaborate effectively with the mathematics department staff, special education personnel, and school leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related STEM field required.

  • Licensure: Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure in Mathematics (Grades 8–12) highly preferred.

  • Experience: Previous middle or high school teaching experience preferred.

  • Strong subject-matter expertise in middle and secondary mathematics, particularly Algebra I/II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital gradebook software.

  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Successful completion of a background check (CORI and SAFIS fingerprinting) prior to employment.

Compensation & Duration
  • Rate: $260.00 per day.

  • Schedule: Full school days following the Mount Greylock Regional School District calendar.

  • Term: Temporary long-term assignment lasting approximately 12 to 16 weeks, beginning mid to late November.
